The term rebuildable atomizer usually refers to RTAs but is also used in reference to RDAs. In the broadest sense, a rebuildable atomizer is any atomizer that allows you to build your coils instead of using prebuilt ones. A lot of RTAs let you use them as RBAs, or you can use them with prebuilt coils. You can swap out the coil heads for the build deck and make your own coils. Getting an RTA with both functions is perfect if you're not sure if you want to fully commit to building coils.
Three Types of Rebuildable Atomizers
RTAs are attys that allow you to build custom coils and have a tank that stores your e-liquid. Inside the tank, you'll see a hole at the base of the atomizer. This allows the e-juice to flow to the wick. The wick soaks up the juice and keeps your vape fueled for hours on end. The flavor will be great since you can build your own coils, but not quite as good as with an RDA. RTAs have a longer distance for the vapor to travel before it reaches your mouth.
The longer the vapor has to travel, the more time it has to dissipate. The flavor is still awesome, just not as good as with an RDA.
RDAs consist of a base and an enclosure. They do not have tanks or reservoirs that store e-juice. With an RDA, you will have to drip e-juice onto your coils through the drip tip. If your RDA doesn't have a drip tip, you'll have to remove the housing and drip the e-liquid directly onto the coils.
RDAs are excellent for cloud chasing and getting the purest flavor from your e-liquid. We do not recommend rebuildable dripping atomizers for beginners. If you're not a beginner and you haven't started dripping yet, it's time to step up your game!
Genesis atomizers or RDTAa often use a stainless steel mesh instead of a traditional cotton or silica wick. They are top feed attys, meaning the wick and coil are at the top, and the tank is at the bottom. Having the coil at the top shortens the distance that the vapor has to travel before it reaches your mouth.
They are exceptional for flavor and still provide the convenience of having a tank. Genesis atomizers can be a bit more complicated than RTAs and RDAs. If you're up for the challenge, then you should definitely try out an RDTA.
Building the perfect coil can be tricky. The good thing is, you don't need the perfect coil to have a rebuildable atomizer that performs great. As with all things, you will get better over time as you gain more hands on experience. Reading an informative article online or watching YouTube tutorials is a great way to build your knowledge. When you actually apply the knowledge and start building, you'll learn a whole lot more. Reading and watching videos will only take you so far. Start building coils right away. You'll see it's not so scary after all.
The art of coil building is simple, yet complex. All you have to do is wrap your wire around a small cylinder a few times. Sounds easy, right? That's the simple explanation, but lots of factors come into play. When wrapping the wire, you want the wraps to be as tight as possible. You don't have to wrap it flawlessly because you can always tighten it up after it is on the base. You just want to make sure your wrap isn't too loose or too sloppy. As long as it's decent, you'll be able to squeeze it together at the end of the building process.
There are several great accessories that will help you make the perfect coils. The best coil building kit on the market is the Coil Master Tool Kit. With the Coil Master Tool Kit, you'll have everything you need to build killer coils. It even comes with a spool of kanthal wire.
